George Glover is an 11-year TriNet employee. He is a valued member of our web development team, but his talents extend far beyond his role as a graphic designer. Outside of the office, he is an accomplished musician and has been playing professionally for the last 35 years.
George has a long history of playing piano and keyboard and made his living as a musician prior to joining TriNet. In the mid ’70s, George toured with saxophonist John Handy, opening for Richard Pryor, Grover Washington Jr., and George’s favorite band, Weather Report. He toured with numerous acts along the West Coast and Canada throughout the ’80s and, in the ’90s, played on Hornblower cruise liners and for private events, teaming up with his wife, vocalist Nita Hamilton, and saxophonist Johnny Almond (of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and The Mark-Almond Band fame).
George’s passion for music continues today, and his George Glover Trio can be seen playing original and classic jazz tunes in small venues all over the East Bay. George’s wife is often his featured vocalist and both are currently working on their own solo albums. Their son plays drums in a band, and two of their three daughters play guitar, piano and flute, as well as sing.
Playing with immensely talented musicians on a weekly basis, George doesn’t take his craft lightly. He believes that there’s always room for improvement and averages about an hour of practice every other night. A self-professed “weekend warrior,” George keeps an active gig schedule around the East Bay. Visit www.georgeglover.com to find out where he’s playing next.
At his desk, George is a graphic designer for the web development team. In his role, George designs many aspects of our employee self-service portal, HR Passport, from its user interface and design of its applications to all the user tutorials employees view. A recent example of George’s design work is in the Benchmarking Dashboards the company launched in January. He’s currently working on projects that will address open enrollment and our next quarterly product release. And for internal employees, George is the man behind our Intranet’s OnePage design.
George’s success in his field is rooted in his fascination of how the web is always evolving, presenting new challenges and offering opportunities for creativity. George loves working with programs affiliated with web graphics such as Illustrator, PhotoShop , Flash and Dreamweaver.
As we mentioned, George has been with TriNet for 11 years. So what’s kept him here all these years? In his own words, “That’s easy to answer! I love the work I’m able to do and working with the people I get to work with on a daily basis. Many of the folks in ‘Web Dev’ have been here as long as I have. There has always been something very special with this team in regard to working with one another. In all, it’s been a great experience.”
