BI Delivers… Flip Flops?

Choosing an avatar for a blog is a complex task. You can show the coolest picture of yourself, or a very sophisticated one. You can opt for a esoteric, funny or trendy symbol. You can go for one that will disclose one of your passions or a secret part of you… without completely revealing it… Oh, boy, I’ll let you guess which way I went: I chose a pair of Brazilian flip flops.

There is actually a quite a common point between these flip-flops and Business Intelligence. A point that has been a driver in my teams for the past decade.

Putting these systems, data, processes and new team organizations is of course based on gaining insight for better profitability, lesser risks and well planned growth. But the best rewards is the change it brings to our colleague. With more work done faster, with massive analysis done with ease, with accountability matching empowerment, BI delivers what has become a luxury in the corporate world: stressless moments, satisfaction of a well-mastered job and the ability to sign off at decent hours and to enjoy our “real life” after work.

And for me, nothing best represents leisure, relaxing, freedom, friends, carelessness and comfort than a pair of Brazilian Havaianas flip flops. I wish I could wear them on Copacabana Beach every day, but they surely do the trick after work in the Bay Area.”
